Transportation Brief: Families
Post-decision community lens
Canonical overview: Post-Decision Transportation Brief
What has been decided
The board approved the new elementary configuration on March 30, 2026. Families now need to plan around the approved layout, the closing of Kaler, and the route changes that follow.
What this means for you
Many families will have to manage new pickup and drop-off patterns. Some households will have children in two buildings, and some will also need before- or after-care to cover the gaps between runs.
What still needs to be worked out
- Which building each child will attend
- How the district will group routes
- Whether the final schedule creates a one-stop or two-stop morning and afternoon routine
- How the district will communicate changes fast enough for summer planning
What is confirmed, what is estimated
Confirmed: the approved configuration creates a real implementation burden, not a hypothetical one. The district confirmed 20 drivers on the night of the vote.
Estimated: 139-169 split families and 118-144 families facing new care needs if the schedule uses a 4-tier pattern. The approved plan is modeled to need about 30 drivers.
